i belong to another generation
for overripe new york summer afternoons and swingin' to martini melodies all night long.

I've just finished reading The Great Gatsby, written at and about a period of history that continues to absolute fascinate me. Don't ask me why. While reading the book I ended up listening to so much music that was either written at the time or at least influenced by the styles of the jazz era. So, here you have it: a mix inspired by post-war pillow talk, bootlegged gin, and expensive silken white dresses flipping in the moonlight.
glenn miller - in the mood
benny goodman - sing, sing, sing
perry combo - papa loves mambo
bobby darin - beyond the sea
wayne newton - danke schoen
can calloway - minnie the moocher
thelonious monk - straight, no chaser
nina simone - sinnerman
peggy lee - fever
miles davis - blue in green
melody gardot - worrisome heart

Thank you! And yes, the book is fantastic, but so short! Now for the film, I guess...

Such a fantastic idea, and I'm a fan of The Great Gatsby and the Roaring Twenties as well (although I like many "long-ago" times.) This looks great, thanks! :)

Tis a great period. There needs to be more historical mixes out there! :-P
